Local Realities and Beyond
The films and dialogue of InLight 2026 expose how everyday undertakings—such as renting an apartment, visiting a history museum, or posting videos on social media—shape the planetary stakes of human rights struggles involving housing, racial justice, and government disinformation. Dealing with subthemes like knowledge in motion, class disparity and justice, and climate change, these films show everyday political impact across immediate geographies. While we may understand the larger consequences of these injustices that dominate our discourse, “Local Realities and Beyond” attempts to ground these daunting forms of oppression in the everyday. This accessibility, in turn, manufactures paths to both recognition and empathy, which contributes to deeper perceptions of the self and paths to coalition-building with both our local and distant neighbors.
